1. Visa Types

 

1.1. for Visit > GOAL: For short stay in Brazil, without aim to be resident; REQUIREMENTS AND OBSERVATIONS: for tourism, business, transit, artistic or sportive activities...not necessary in case of stopover or connection in national territory, provided that the visitor does not leave the international transit area; VISA TERM: 1 year as rule, being possible multiple entries into the country while the visa is valid. Can be exceptions in which the term can be longer, or shorter; MAXIMUM TERM FOR THE STAY OF IMMIGRANTS AND VISITORS IN BRAZIL: stay period of up to 90 days, extendable by the Federal Police for up to 90, for each year, if there is reciprocity among States. Exception: artistic or sports activities, and for auditing and consulting: only 90 days, non-extendable. The period of stay of the visit visa will start from the date of first entry into the national territory and will be suspended whenever the visitor leaves the national territory.

 

1.2. Temporary > GOAL: for who wants to establish residency for a specified period; REQUIREMENTS AND OBSERVATIONS: for research, teaching or academic extension; health treatment; humanitarian reception; study; work; work-vacation; practice of religious activity or voluntary service; investment or activity with economic, social, scientific, technological or cultural relevance; family reunion; artistic or sporting activities with a fixed-term contract; the immigrant is a beneficiary of a visa treaty...; VISA TERM: up to 1 year, being possible multiple entries into the country while the visa is valid; MAXIMUM TERM FOR THE STAY OF IMMIGRANTS AND VISITORS IN BRAZIL: The initial period of stay for holders of temporary VISAS will be the same as their period of validity.

 

1.3. Diplomatic, Official or Courtesy > GOAL: for who are under service of foreign State or International organization; REQUIREMENTS AND OBSERVATIONS: may be granted to foreign authorities and employees traveling to Brazil on an official mission of a transitory or permanent nature, representing a foreign State or recognized international organization; VISA TERM: up to 3 year, being possible multiple entries into the country while the visa is valid; MAXIMUM TERM FOR THE STAY OF IMMIGRANTS AND VISITORS IN BRAZIL: The initial period of stay for holders of diplomatic, official and courtesy VISAS will be the same as their period of validity.

2. Visa Exemption > The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will inform the Federal Police and other competent authorities about the countries to which the visa exemption applies and about the conditions related to this exemption. * Check the link bellow to know on exemptions:

Examples:

Spain, Portugal:
Visit Visa: Visa Exemption, for a period not exceeding ninety (90) days. Holders of diplomatic passports and Holders of official or service passports: Visa Exemption, for a period not exceeding ninety (90) days, for officials not accredited in Brazil. For accredited officials, Visa Exemption for the period of their mission.

United Kingdom:
Visit Visa: Visa Exemption, for a period not exceeding ninety (90) days. Holders of diplomatic passports and Holders of official or service passports: Visa exemption, for an indefinite period of time, for accredited and non-accredited officials.

Netherlands:
Visit Visa: Visa Exemption, for a period not exceeding ninety (90) days. Maximum stay of 90 days every 180 days. Holders of diplomatic passports and Holders of official or service passports: Visa Exemption, for a period not exceeding ninety (90) days, for officials not accredited in Brazil. For accredited officials, Visa for the period of the mission.

Argentina:
Visit Visa: Visa Exemption, for a period not exceeding ninety (90) days. Entrance allowed by presenting Civil Identity Card. Holders of diplomatic passports: Visa exemption, for an indefinite period of time, for accredited and non-accredited officials. Holders of official or service passports: Visa Exemption, for a period not exceeding ninety (90) days, for officials not accredited in Brazil. For accredited officials, Visa Exemption for the period of their mission.

3. Residence Permit

I - the purpose of the residence shall be:
- research, teaching or academic extension;
- health treatment;
- humanitarian reception;
- study; and work;
- work-vacation;
- practice of religious activity or voluntary service;
- investment or activity with economic, social, scientific, technological or cultural relevance;
- family reunion;

II - for persons:
- that are beneficiary of a treaty on residence and freedom of movement;
- holds a job offer;
- is a beneficiary of refuge, asylum or stateless person protection;

4. Family Reunion



The VISA/Residence Permit will be granted to:
I - spouse or partner, without any discrimination;
II - child of an immigrant beneficiary of a residence permit, or who has a Brazilian child or an immigrant beneficiary of a residence permit;
III - ascendant, descendant up to the second degree or brother of a Brazilian or an immigrant beneficiary of a residence permit; or
IV - who has a Brazilian under his guardianship.

5. Natural Person Investing in Real Estate in Brazil



The granting of a residence permit for real estate investment is
subject to the acquisition of real estate, located in an urban area, in an amount equal to or greater than
to BRL 1.000.000,00 (one million reais) which may be:
a) acquisition of constructed real estate; or
b) acquisition of real estate under construction.
The minimum investment amount may have a discount of BRL 300.000,00, when it comes to the acquisition of real estate in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil.

6. Natural Person Investing in Brazilian Companies



Investment, in foreign currency, in an amount equal to or greater than equivalent to R$ 500.000,00 (five hundred thousand reais), upon presentation of a Investment or Business, what apply to newly constituted or existing companies that receives foreign investment.

It is possible to authorize prior residence, for purposes of granting of a temporary visa, when the investment value is below BRL 500.000,00 (five hundred thousand reais), and as long as it is not less than BRL 150.000,00 (one hundred and fifty thousand reais), for the entrepreneur who intends to settle in Brazil with the purpose of investing in innovation, basic or applied research, of a scientific or technological.

7. Natural Person as Administrator/Director/Manager of Brazilian Company



Residence permit for work purposes, without an employment relationship in Brazil, consists of exercising a position, function or attribution in the administration and management of business legal entities.
